The Black & Decker 9099KC 7.2-Volt Cordless Drill with Keyless Chuck is a cheap but versatile tool. It is not as powerful as the top-end models but it has all the basic features you need. The low price means you get excellent value for the money.

The Black & Decker 9099KC has a keyless chuck which makes it quick and easy to change bits. It has two speeds, the high speed suitable for drilling and the low speed for screwing. The 9099KC also supports forward and reverse which is essential if you want to remove screws.

Even if you get excellent value for your money, don’t expect the Black & Decker 9099KC to be capable of heavier drilling. The 7.2 Volt built-in Ni-Cad battery is simply not powerful enough for heavier tasks. The Black and Decker 9099KC is fine for wood drilling but for many other tasks you simply need a more powerful drill.

One small problem is that the 9099KC can not stand upright on its battery. But it is well balanced and the light weight makes it easy to hold in one hand.

Note that the battery is built into the drill so you can not replace just the battery. Once the battery has worn out, you have to buy a new drill.

Nice drill for light to medium duty. Great for occasional household or apartment use. Good torque — two speeds forward and reverse. Don’t expect to be able to add an addition on your house with it (even though it does drive 4″ screws). It’s handy for hanging curtain rods, blinds, pictures and even hanging doors. There are no accessories or case included. It comes with a charger and built-in battery (non-replaceable). Even if the battery and drill last for only a couple years, it’s still well worth the money.
